Nitartha Weekend
Regional Programs – Spring 2005
The Nitartha Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies, founded by The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche to allow students to enrich their understanding of the dharma in an atmosphere of thoroughness and depth, is pleased to offer “Mind and Its World”, a weekend Regional Program. The program will take place in the following locations:
“Mind and Its World” brings the richness of the Institute into a weekend format, and introduces the tools and methods used at Nitartha to take students to a deeper understanding of their practice. The focus is material from the Lorik (Classifications of Mind) section of the principal course for first-year students at Nitartha. The weekend’s exploration of the science of valid cognition is a thorough look at how to know that one’s perceptual and conceptual engagement with the world is valid and genuine.
The manner in which this exploration takes place over the
course of the program is deeply engaging, and is very open-ended in style. In
addition to interactive classes there will be guided analytical meditation (to
come to certainty in one’s experience about the topics explored), an
introduction to logic (to clarify one’s thinking), and discussion groups. Each
day will begin with an optional guided lujong
(body/mind) training session. In general, the program is suitable for anyone
who has studied the dharma for a year or more, though everyone is welcome.
If you are not able to attend the weekend, you are welcome to come to the talks
alone on Friday or Saturday evening.
