News on The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche's European Teaching Tour 2004
The week of Sept. 24 - 29th, Rinpoche was at Kamalashila Institut in Lagenfeld, Germany where, along with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, he led a meeting of all the Karma Kagyu centers of His Holiness Karmapa. The meeting went very well.
During this period, Rinpoche made a brief trip to Koln, where he taught on Sept. 27th at the opening of a new Chinese Medical School. This teaching was attended by 80 - 90 students. Rinpoche also gave the Medicine Buddha empowerment.
On the afternoon of September 28th, Rinpoche met with the Director of Shambhala Europe. That evening, the Shambhala Center of Koln sponsored a teaching by Rinpoche on his book, "Wild Awakening: The Heart of Mahamudra and Dzogchen." Approximately 180 - 190 students attended these teachings. Rinpoche was attended by Lama Sonam, Acharya Kelsang Wangdi, and Tenam Lama, with Karl Brunnholzl serving as his translator.
Rinpoche also visited the three-year retreat center, Karma Tekchen Yi Ong Ling, directed by Ven. Thrangu Rinpoche for the Karma Kagyu Trust - Germany. There he met with the Retreat Master, Lama Kunga Dorje, and at his request, Rinpoche gave teachings to the retreatants.
On Oct. 1, Rinpoche departs for Barcelona, Spain, where he will teach at the Dag Shang Kagyu center on his book, "Wild Awakening."
On October 5 - 6, Rinpoche will be in Copenhagen, Denmark, at Sangdje Tashi Ling, where he will also present teachings from "Wild Awakening."
Rinpoche returns to Seattle, Washington, on October 7th, where preparations are fully underway for the November 4th inauguration of Nalanda West, and the Mahamudra teachings of Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche, Nov. 5 - 14.
